About the program
Philosophy gives you a broad vision of the world and the ability to make intelligent decisions, laying the foundation for a variety of careers. You can study philosophy exclusively, or combine it with another discipline. Here at University of Windsor classes are small and full of opportunities to discuss today’s most pressing topics such as artificial intelligence, feminism, the environment and politics.
What will I learn?
- Appreciating the thoughts and ideas of people from other times and places; expressing and evaluating these ideas with respect to historical and modern contexts and competing philosophies
- Understanding and internalizing several major philosophical tenets, figures, texts, and schools of thought
- Closely evaluating competing arguments and ideas to articulate fine differences and areas of commonality
- Examining and explaining beliefs, arguments, and ideas using sound logical reasoning and rationality
- Building sturdy, well-supported points of view; expressing forcefully and intelligently why one’s view is preferable to competing alternatives
- Identifying and isolating the distinctive qualities of arguments using clarity and reason
